今日のポイント答え方は、Because ～.「なぜなら～です、～だからです」を用います。キーフレーズのWhy is it so expensive?に対しても、Because it’s a brand-name product.と答えていますね。ただし、Becauseは省略できます。
なお、〈Why＋do/does ＋主語＋～?〉で、「主語はなぜ／どうして～するのですか？」と尋ねる表現もあります。例えば、Why do you think so?「あなたはなぜそう考えるのですか？」のようになります。
ケンは、ジウへのプレゼントを買おうと、とあるお店に入りました。

- strike outは「新たな道を踏み出す」、on one’s ownは「独力で」という意味。
- change jobs「転職する」は、jobsと複数形になることに注意しましょう。これは現在の仕事と転職先の仕事と両方を指しています。同様に、change trainsは「電車を乗り換える」、change rooms「部屋を交換する」のように使います。
- earn brownie pointsは「（上司や講師などに対して）点数をかせぐ」という意味の決まった表現。earnはgetに置き換えることができます。
