今日のポイント

〈（主語）+知覚動詞+（目的語）+ ～（動詞の原形／現在分詞）〉で、「（主語）は（目的語）が～するのを見る／聞くなど」を表します。知覚動詞には、see「見る」、watch「見る」、hear「聞く」、feel「感じる」、smell「匂う」などがあります。
通常、動詞の原形を用いる場合、その動作の最初から最後までを表し、現在分詞の場合はその動作の途中を表します。

ケンがなにやら慌てています。
どうやら、財布が見当たらないようです。
ホテルの人が、奇妙なことを言いました。
「どなたかがお客さまのお部屋に入るのを見ました」
ケンも、誰かに見られていたような気がするそうです。
さては、泥棒か？さあ、大変だ！

Ken : Excuse me. I think I left my wallet on the table in the restaurant.	ケン : すみません、レストランのテーブルに財布を置き忘れたようなのですが。
Hotel Staff : We just finished cleaning up. We did not find a wallet.	ホテルの人 : たったいま片付けたところですが、財布はございませんでした。
Ken : That’s odd. Where did I leave it?	ケン : おかしいな、どこに置き忘れたんだろう？
Hotel Staff : Actually, I saw someone enter your room.	ホテルの人 : 実はどなたかがお客さまのお部屋に入るのを見ました。
Hotel Staff : I thought he was an acquaintance of yours.	ホテルの人 : お客さまのお知り合いかと思ったのですが。
Ken : I don’t know anyone here.	ケン : こちらに知り合いはいません。
Ken : Now that you mention it...	ケン : そう言われてみれば…。
Ken : I felt like someone was watching me!	ケン : 誰かに見られてるような気がしたんだ！

kung fu「カンフー」は、中国語の gōngfú が語源で、skill「技術」という意味。
