間接疑問文は、〈主語＋動詞＋(目的語)〉の文の目的語に当たる部分に、where、when、what、howなどの疑問詞で始まる疑問文が入ります。疑問詞で始まる疑問文の語順は、〈疑問詞＋主語＋動詞〉になります。キーフレーズは、〈I don’t know +(目的語)〉の目的語の部分が、how I can explainになっていますね。

文化や風習の違いは国や地域によって様々ですよね。
日本では当たり前の風習でも、外国の人たちにとっては奇異に感じられるものもたくさんあります。
セブに出張に来ているアンディに、ケンが「つまらないものですが…」と言ってプレゼントをしています。
何でつまらないものをアンディにあげるのか、ジウには理解できません。
ケンは、「どう説明したらいいかわからない」と、困ってしまいました。

Ken : How did you enjoy your stay in Cebu, Andy?	ケン : セブでの滞在はどうだった、アンディ？
Andy : It was great.	アンディ : 素晴らしかったよ。
Andy : I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it.	アンディ : どんなに楽しかったか言葉で表わせないいくらいだ。
Ken : I’m glad.	ケン : それはよかった。
Ken : Oh, I got you a gift.	ケン : そうだ、きみにプレゼントがあるんだ。
Ken : It’s nothing interesting, but please take it.	ケン : つまらないものだけど、よかったらどうぞ。
Andy : Thanks, Ken.	アンディ : ありがとう、ケン。

Jiu : Why did you tell Andy that your gift was uninteresting?	ジウ : どうしてプレゼントのこと、アンディにつまらないものだなんて言ったの？
Ken : I don’t know how I can explain.	ケン : どう説明したらいいのかな。
Ken : It’s just customary in Japan to say that.	ケン : そんな風に言うのは日本の風習なんだ。
Jiu : That’s a strange custom.	ジウ : おかしな風習ね。
Jiu : I wouldn’t want a gift that wasn’t interesting!	ジウ : わたしだったら、つまらないプレゼントなんかいらないわ。

Ken: Do you know (a. where Sato-san is b. when Sato-san gets back c. what Sato-san’s schedule is like this afternoon)?
Rob: I have no idea.
Rob: Why do you need to know?
Ken: I have client on the phone who wants to talk to him.
Rob: Did they say (a. why they’re calling b. when they need to speak to him by c. what they need to talk to him about)?
Ken: No. I’ll check.

I have no idea.は、何かに対して「私はまったく見当がつかない」「わからない」ときに使う決まった表現です。特に口語では、I haveを省略します。例えば、Where did they go?「彼らはどこに行ったの？」－No idea.「全然わからないよ」のようになります。
なお、主語をyouに置き換えると、You have no idea.「あなたには見当もつかないでしょう」「あなたには想像もつかないよ」という意味になります。
I have no idea.に近い意味の表現として、I have no clue.があります。clueは「（解決のための）手がかり／ヒント」。
