またまた、ピーターから電話がかかってきました。「おつなぎします」 と、ようやくピーターは、サトウさんと話すことができたみたいです。
ケンもこれで一安心。ところで、ピーターって誰だったの？

今日のポイント
今日は、電話を実際に取り次ぐときの表現を学習します。
adviser “I’ll put you through to Ken.” 「ケンにおつなぎします」、“I’ll connect you to Mr. Nakajima.”「中村におつなぎします」の、”put ～through to…“は、「～を…につなぐ」、”connect ～to … ”は、「～を・・・につなぐ」という意味です。
adviser なお、日本では自社の人間には社長であっても「中村」というように呼び捨てですが、英語ではMr.やMs.などの敬称を付けることを忘れないようにしましょう。
adviser また、つなぎたい相手が自分の席にいるかどうか不明なときは、“Let me try his line.”「つないでみます」という表現を使うこともできます。

Peter : Hello Ken.
It’s Peter again.		 ピーター : こんにちは、ケン。
またピーターです。
Ken : Hello Peter. ケン : こんにちは、ピーター。
Peter : Is Tomokazu in today? ピーター : 今日は、トモカズはいますか？
Ken : I think so.
Let me try his line.		 ケン : いると思います。
電話をつないでみます。
Ken : Sorry to make you wait.
He’s available to take your call.
I’ll put you through.		 ケン : お待たせしてすみません。
彼は電話にでることができます。
おつなぎします。
Peter : Thanks. ピーター : ありがとう。
Sato : Do you know who that was? サトウ : あれ、誰だったか知っている？
Ken : I thought you knew. ケン : ご存知なかったのですか？
Sato : No. He must have had the wrong number.
And the same name, by coincidence!		 サトウ : いや、間違い電話だった。
名前も偶然同じだったみたい！
