ものづくりの現場では、オフィスであまりなじみがない表現や専門用語がよく使われます。Unit 26〜30では、ケンの会社の自社工場を舞台に、「ものづくりの英語」を学習しましょう。工場には5つの生産ラインがあります」となります。
今日は、「AにBがあります」という表現の“There is/are B 前置詞A.”という表現を学習します。
「～があります」というときは、“There is/are”で文を始めます。場所を表す表現は最後に付けます。つまり、〈There is /are ～ 前置詞 + 場所を表す語句〉の語順です。従って、”There are five production lines in this factory.“ 「この工場には5つの生産ラインがあります」となります。

“Wow”は『驚き・喜び』などを表すときに用い間投詞で、「わあ」「すごい」などと訳せます。［ワオ］と発音しますが、英語で話していても、驚いたときに［ワオ］ではなく［わあ］と、そこだけ日本語になってしまう人が多々います。驚きも喜びも、英語で表現しましょう。
