“Would it be possible to ～?”「～をしていただくことは可能でしょうか？」は、“Is it possible to ～?”「～することは可能ですか？」に、『控え目さ』を表すwouldを挿入した『依頼』の表現です。とても丁寧な表現ですので、特に社外や目上の人たちとの交渉に使われます。

Ken : Thanks for sending me the quote, David. ケン : 見積もりを送っていただき、ありがとうございます、デビッド。
David : My pleasure. デビッド : どういたしまして。
Ken : I was wondering if we could discuss the pricing. ケン : 価格について話し合うことはできますでしょうか。
David : Okay. What did you have in mind? デビッド : はい。何を考えていらっしゃるのですか？
Ken : Well, we’ve requested estimates from several other suppliers.
They’ve offered some very competitive prices. 		ケン : 実は、他の数社にも見積もりを依頼しています。
いくつかとても魅力的な価格の、提案があります。
David : I see デビッド : そうですか。
Ken : Would it be possible to give us a bulk discount? ケン : ボリューム割引をいただくことは可能でしょうか？
David : Certainly. I’ll see what I can do. デビッド : 承知いたしました。やるだけやってみましょう。

ワンポイント・アドバイス
adviser “Would it be possible to ～.”は結構長い文です。長くて構文を思い出せないときは、一旦、”Please ～.”を使って文を作ってみましょう。
“Please give us a bulk discount.”
↓
“Would it be possible to give us a bulk discount?
このように“Please”の部分を“Would it be possible to”に置き換えるだけです。
adviser “I was wondering if someone could ～.”「もしできれば～していただけないかと思っております」　も、非常に丁寧な依頼の表現です。頼みづらいことなどを依頼するときに使います。例えば、
“I was wondering if you could review my English email.” 「私が書いた英文メールをレビューしていただけないでしょうか？」
adviser ちなみに、“I was”と過去形を用いていますが、現在形の“I’m”より丁寧な表現で、『過去』のことではないので注意しましょう。このように、現在のことを話す際、過去形を用いることでより一層丁寧度を上げることができます。

adviser “bulk discount” 「ボリューム割引」の“bulk” は、「大量の」という意味ですので、「大量発注による割引」＝「ボリューム割引」となります。
